There are only two matches in La Liga this Saturday and this is likely to be by far the better of them. Valencia have had a great season and are set for Champions League football next term but Celta are arguably the most dangerous side in Spain outside of the top four and are capable of scoring goals against anyone in this league.

They held Barcelona to a 2-2 draw in midweek while their home game with Real Madrid also produced the same scoreline back in January. Those kind of results clearly indicate that Celta can mix it with the top sides and they’ll fancy this against a Valencia side that were on the wrong end of a real upset in midweek.

Los Che lost 2-1 at home to Getafe, their second defeat in five days after a loss by the same scoreline at Camp Nou. To make matters worse, their captain and main creative force Dani Parejo picked up a late red card in the Getafe game, which leaves him suspended here and that is a significant blow to their hopes.

There is a pretty strong theory that suggests Valencia’s first eleven is very good but they lack strength in depth and find it tough when a few key men are out or when they have to play twice a week, which has been the case here.

Defensively they’ve not been totally convincing away either with just a 19% clean sheet ratio on the road this season in La Liga. You’d expect the 4th placed side to have a slightly better record than that and Celta are well equipped to take advantage. They’ve netted twice or more in 7 of their last 8 home games. 3 of those games were against Barca, Real Madrid and Sevilla and they netted 8 times across those matches so there is plenty of reason to fancy backing Celta to score over 1.5 Goals here.

There’s reason to think there will be at least a goal in this for Valencia though. 61% of Celta matches and 61% of Valencia games in La Liga this term have produced goals at each end. 69% of Valencia away games have seen both teams score so there’s solid reason to fancy backing Both Teams to Score here in what should be quite an open game.
