Candice Brown is resplendent in an ivory gown in first look at wedding to Liam Macaulay… as she reveals Bake Off co-stars made her 12 cakes for the occasion
Last week, she shocked fans when she revealed on Twitter that she’d secretly tied the knot with her tree surgeon beau Liam Macaulay in France just days earlier.
And Great British Bake Off winner Candice Brown has shared the first glimpse of the breathtaking Monique Lhuillier satin gown she wore as she exchanged nuptials with her longtime love at Château de Varennes in Burgundy on September 22.
Speaking with HELLO!, the 33-year-old said of her strapless duchess dress, which she teamed with a tartan Vivienne West-wood bag and red embellished Alexander McQueen shoes: ‘There was no way I was going conservative on my wedding day.’
‘Candice completely took my breath away,’ gushed Scottish-born Liam, who cut a dapper figure in a bespoke Siobhan Mackenzie kilt in his family’s tartan.
Of course, given the bride’s expert background — and the fact that her erstwhile GBBO competitors were on hand to toast the couple — all eyes were on wedding cake, which actually turned out to be 12 separately baked masterpieces.
‘There will never be another wedding-cake table like that – there was enough to feed about 300 people,’ said Candice, whose two pet dogs were also special guests at the romantic ceremony.
Turning her attention to her new husband, Candice gushed: ‘We have always said we work better together than we do apart. Being able to say we are now husband and wife is such a lovely thing.’

Candice initially revealed the happy news about her wedding on Twitter last week, simply writing: ‘Got married, didn’t we?’
She later returned to the micro-blogging site to state: ‘The congratulations & love we have received is incredible! Thank you so much for all your kind words!
‘I keep bursting into tears (of complete overwhelming happiness & joy) -to anyone posting negative comments- I hope one day you experience the love and happiness we have #wife.’
Clearly relishing her new married status, Candice also shared a picture of her husband in walking down a street in France. She captioned the image: ‘Just my husband walking down a cobbled street in beautiful Beaune #husbandandwife #willnevergetboring.’
Candice celebrated her hen do less than two weeks ago, posting pictures of herself celebrating while wearing a mock bridal veil. In the cheeky snaps Candice could be seen sharing a signature pout with the camera as it was accentuated by the statement lip she was known for rocking during her time in the Bake Off tent. Candice met Liam six years ago and the couple announced their engagement last October just over a year after she first appeared on Bake Off.
